A Crash Course on Suicide Prevention by Dr. David Jobes - World Suicide Prevention Day - September 10th, 2021 @ 12 EST 1 CEU

September is National Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month. Organizations dedicated to suicide educational programming are very active right now spreading information to increase visibility of assessment and intervention tools as preventative measures. This newsletter is dedicated to highlighting a 1-hour course providing concrete tools to save someone's life. Spare 1 hour and do your part to combat a growing epidemic and leading cause of death. It has never been easier or less expensive ($30). This course is taking place in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day (read more about World Suicide Prevention Day and the International Association for Suicide Prevention here).

On September 10th, 2021 at 12PM Eastern Standard Time, Brooklyn Heights Behavioral Associates is honored to live stream Dr. David Jobes and his timely and essential webinar "A Crash Course on Suicide and Suicide Prevention.” Dr. Jobes is a renowned suicidologist, researcher, professor, and developer of the evidence-based treatment for suicide Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS).

This course is available to everyone and made possible through an unprecedented partnership between leaders of two evidence-based treatments for suicide, Dr. Jobes and the certifying organizational body for Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Linehan Board of Certification (DBT-LBC). Click here to read more about DBT-LBC.

Dr. Jobes is generously directing 100% of the registration price to DBT-LBC in support of their mission, originally developed and carried out by Dr. Marsha Linehan, the developer of DBT.

DBT-LBC is a non-profit and mostly volunteer agency, whose members tirelessly work to increase awareness, affordability, and availability of comprehensive and standardized DBT.  DBT was developed solely to treat and prevent suicidal behaviors, as well as to help families directly impacted by suicidal behaviors. Members of DBT-LBC push for change at the state legislative level in hopes that private insurers and Medicaid providers increase treatment availability within networks, raise reimbursement rates for comprehensive care and increase ease of coverage for those seeking comprehensive treatment. Scholarships for clinicians, agencies, and programs needing help with certification costs are also available and funded by DBT-LBC. Decades of research support DBT as a gold standard treatment for those struggling with chronic suicidal thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT-LBC, the certifying body, exists for the purpose of maintaining the highest standards and adherence to the research model, ensuring the consumer has the best chance of success and recovery.
